The Canadian government has confirmed on its website that the deadline for applications for the Temporary Residence to Permanent Residence (TR to PR) pathways will not be extended and will instead close on Nov. 5.
It can be recalled that the new pathways were launched on May 6, allowing 90,000 essential workers, international students, and French speakers to call Canada their permanent home. It was first introduced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on April 14.

IRCC eyed to admit 90,000 immigrants through the English programs alone, but even with the applications from the French steams, it might fall short.
Unlike the French streams, the English streams had caps with more than 13,000 spots currently available for essential workers in health care jobs.
Within 25 hours of opening, the stream for international student graduates started to fill up, while the non-health care essential workers’ stream closed in July.
Because of a glitch in the system, IRCC was able to accept about 7,307 additional international student graduate applications.
With the latest announcement, the Canadian government’s website noted that candidates will not be able to submit an application once the program closes. If they have already submitted an application, they will still be able to sign in to the portal and view their submission.
