For the second time, Niagara College Canada and its partners will host female high school students from throughout Niagara who will explore opportunities in trades and technology.
“Exploring Your Future – Dream It, Believe It, Do It” is a collaboration between Niagara College, the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN), Niagara Catholic District School Board (Niagara Catholic), Skills Ontario, and event sponsor Ontario Power Generation (OPG).

According to Vincent Van Schaik, Dean of Media, Trades and Technology, Niagara College is excited to keep working with its partners to give young women in Niagara the opportunity to learn about jobs in the skilled trades and technology.
On Jan. 20, the free online mentorship series will begin and students will have the opportunity to hear from female industry mentors whose insights and experiences will serve to inspire young women.
Among the guests are Jennifer Green, Director of Competitions and Young Women’s Initiatives at Skills Ontario, Jennifer Grossi, Corporate Relations Officer at Ontario Power Generation, and Thalia Semplonius, Project Manager at the Niagara Workforce Planning Board.
Skills Ontario is a participant in this collaborative event aimed at encouraging young people to pursue careers in skilled trades and technologies.
Skills Ontario is building Ontario’s skilled trades and technologies workforce. All youth, especially women and indigenous youth, are encouraged to explore a career in skilled trades and technologies.
Ontario Power Generation Inc., meanwhile, is a Crown corporation that generates almost half of the power in the Canadian province of Ontario.
The kick-off on Jan. 20 will be followed by a series of Zoom-based sector-specific events from February to April. Women from a variety of industries in the skilled professions will speak at the events, sharing their professional experiences with students.
