Int’l Students to Study in WA Allowed to Apply For Entry, IHM Announces

International students who are enrolled to study in Western Australia can now apply to enter the state, according to the Institute of Health and Management (CRICOS Provider: 03407G).

International students can enter the state by transiting through another Australian city or flying directly into Perth within the federal government’s arrival cap on Western Australia visitors. Students enrolling in a Western Australian institution may use these options.

Key Takeaways:

  • International students studying in Western Australia can now apply to enter the state.
  • International students can seek to transit through another Australian city to enter the state.
  • They may also travel directly into Perth as long as they stay within the federal government’s visitor arrivals cap for Western Australia.

International students allowed to enter the state include both new students and those who have previously enrolled and studied onshore or offshore in Western Australia.

International students must have an authorized G2G pass with the exemption category “Enrolled Student in WA,” be triple dose vaccinated, if eligible, and submit proof of a negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) within 24 hours of departure to enter Western Australia.

Self-quarantine for seven days at a suitable location in Western Australia, with the same conditions for family members at the self-quarantine site, also applies to international students.

Within 24 hours of arrival, students must do RAT or PCR testing and either a PCR or a RAT test on day six or seven of their self-isolation.

Students will end their quarantine after seven days if asymptomatic and return a negative test. If the student is symptomatic, they must be isolated until symptoms subside.

On the student’s day six of isolation, household members quarantined with them will also need to take a PCR test.

As required, international students need to use the G2G Now app and submit in-person checks by Western Australian Police.

All international students must be vaccinated twice to enter Australia. If a student qualifies for the third dose in their home country, they should get it before leaving. Students can, however, receive their third dose in Western Australia if they are not eligible.

Moreover, international students returning to Western Australia may be eligible for an AU$2,000 self-quarantine payment from the state government.
