With the support of an AU$1 million voucher program sponsored by the Victorian Government, Deakin University’s ManuFutures launched a new initiative for entrepreneurs and start-ups in regional Victoria.
Entrepreneurs and start-ups with brilliant ideas but little manufacturing expertise are invited to join the ManuFutures business incubation team on a path from concept through proof-of-concept, commercial production, and new initiatives.

Deakin and ManuFutures have a great track record, according to Ross Mahon, Executive Director Deakin Research Innovations, with more than AU$1 billion in company value created since ManuFutures was founded in 2018, more than 500 student placements, and 120 direct new jobs.
The AU$20 million expansion program at Deakin’s Waurn Ponds campus will see the ManuFutures center expand, with an AU$10 million grant from the Victorian Government via the Victorian Higher Education State Investment Fund (VHESIF).
Mahon urged entrepreneurs and start-up businesses in Ballarat, Bendigo, Warrnambool, Gippsland, and Geelong to apply to the Ignite workshop program in order to be considered for a spot in the six-month Bootcamp program.
